Met Abraham after his victory.
When Abraham was victorious still he gave a
tenth.
Abraham was blessed by
Melchizedek.
Levitical priest
thus paid tithes to Melchizedek through Abraham.
BOTH KING AND PRIEST:
Priest of God...
King of Righteousness...King of
Salem (Peace.)
The combination of these two
offices was to be a distinguishing characteristic
of the Messiah.
NO GENEALOGY:
Without father...mother.
No beginning of days or end of
life...
He is left to abide alone
and forever in the
mind of the reader.
After the Order of
Melchizedek
As Melchizedek was greater than Levitical
in that they gave tithes to him...Even so Christ is
greater, because He is greater than Melchizedek.
BOTH KING AND PRIEST:
Jesus is declared to be:
"King of kings, and Lord of lords.
Reigning forever at the right hand
of God.
As High Priest who has entered
Holy of Holies...forever as an anchor for our
soul.
OF HIS PRIESTHOOD.... HE ABIDES ALONE
AND FOREVER!
UNCHANGING NATURE
THE UNCHANGING NATURE OF CHRIST'S
PRIESTHOOD.
SOME THINGS TO CONSIDER:
To change the priesthood...must
change the law.
How this relates to O.T.
and N.T.
Jesus of the tribe of
Judah - Therefore the law must be changed
for Him to be Priest.
Change the Law..... Must change
the priesthood.
Those who would set aside
the law of Christ...
Must of necessity set
aside the Priest, that is Christ.
JUST AS THE HEBREW LETTER TEACHES US THAT
THE LAW (O.T.) Had to be changed for Christ, the Son of
God be become our High Priest........ It also teaches
us that we can't change the gospel (N.T.) Without
changing
Christ!
HE IS ABLE.......
TO SAVE TO THE UTTERMOST.....
Completely
Without fail...
THOSE WHO DRAW NEAR TO GOD THROUGH HIM...
No other way than through Christ.
