Spoken by the Psalmist of him own
desire to serve God.
Applied in Hebrews to Christ.
THE DOCTRINAL SECTION OF THE BOOK CLOSES.
We now have the exhortation
to practical living.
Based upon the understanding of
all that has been done for us. We should
thus live....
THEREFORE BRETHREN
"Having therefore, brethren,
boldness to enter into the holy place by the blood of
Jesus, (v. 19).
END OF ANIMAL SACRIFICES (vs. 1-4).
Were good.
Served their purpose.
WE NOW HAVE THE PERFECT SACRIFICE (vs.
5-10).
"Saying above, Sacrifices
and offerings and whole burnt offerings and
sacrifices for sin thou wouldest not, neither
hadst pleasure therein (the which are offered
according to the law(v. 8)
Knowing this, Christ said "Lo
I have come to do thy will"
Thus we have been sanctified by
the perfect gift of Christ.
EXALTED CHRIST;
NOW AND LIVING WAY (V. 20)
He opened it up
Because He went before (John 14)
WE NOT HAVE CONFIDENCE:
"Let us draw near with a true
heart in full Assurance of Faith.
A Full Faith, ... A full Hope.
3. Hold fast the confession our faith
without wavering (23).
Exhorting One
Another
CONSIDERING ONE ANOTHER.
How can I help
How may we provoke love and good
works in another.
NOT FORSAKING THE ASSEMBLING OF OURSELVES
TOGETHER.
The thought is not so much that
they were to encourage one another to meet
together...BUT
That they were to meet together
where such encouragement was available in the
assemble.
QUESTION? In your assembling
together..
Was it for you...your
worship....the good.
How much thought have you
given to the fact that the assemble gives
you an opportunity to exhort others to
love and good works.
SO MUCH THE MORE, AS YOU SEE THE DAY
DRAWING NIGH" WHICH DAY??
IT IS SAID THAT "The
Day" refers to the day of Christian worship.
"The first day of the
week"
Yet else where it is
always so identified, but not here.
Remember that vs. 25 deals
with the exhortation in
the assemble, not exhortation to
assemble.
IT IS SAID THAT "The
Day" refers to the Destruction of Jerusalem.
How could Christian's
living outside of Palestine see the
coming signs of Jerusalem's destruction?
What would be the message
for us today?
IT IS SAID THAT "The
Day" refers to "the day of the
Lord" to the final day of Judgment when
Christ comes again.
The day is spoken of a drawing
near in the same sense that Paul
affirmed, for example, that "the
night is far gone, the day is at
hand" (Rom. 13;12) cf I Thess. 5:4;
Phil. 4:5; James 5:8.
This would directly tie it
in with the judgment and Christ second
appearance (v. 37).
How see? If through the
eye of faith the readers could see Jesus
crowned with glory and honor, they also
through faith could see the
approach of His coming and His Day.
BECAUSE
WE ARE TO EXHORT ONE ANOTHER BECAUSE of
the terrible consequence of falling away.
IF ONE SIN WILFULLY....DELIBERATELY...
After receiving the knowledge of
truth.
John 17:17 truth shall
make you free
Thy word is truth.
No other sacrifice for sin.
Christ is the supreme
And last
or final
sacrifice for sin.
If He is rejected all that is left
is:
FEARFUL EXPECTATION OF JUDGMENT and
fierceness of fire that shall devour the
adversaries." v. 27.
A fearful thing to fall
into the hand of the Living God.
WHAT THEY HAVE DONE:
TO SPURN AND TRAMPLE UNDER FOOT
THE SON OF God. To hold Him up to contempt (6:6).
Count the blood of the covenant
unholy, common...of no value.
To blasphemously insult the Holy
Spirit. This Will Bring....
